Acoustic guitar made of Laurel with unusual sound hole.
The basis for this custom order is our Ambition Core. Back and sides are made of Laurel, for the top the customer wanted Lutz Spruce. To match the bindings, the three sound holes in the side were contrasted with Anigré. Ebony was chosen for the fingerboard, so the guitar is absolutely free of Rosewood and can therefore cross borders without any problems.
As an additional special feature, this Ambition Core is equipped with stainless steel frets. Furthermore, the instrument was designed for Dropped Tuning. With the extended scale length of 665 mm and an adapted bracing, this guitar is optimised for a tuning that is a whole tone below the normal EADGBE tuning.
This steel string guitar is amplified by an L. R. Baggs Anthem, which produces an impressively natural sound by combining a microphone and an Element pickup.
Sound
Laurel has a very similar sound to Rosewood, but is even more percussive and dynamic due to its denser consistency. In the low-mid range, Laurel produces impressive pressure. The combination of the high dynamic reserve of Laurel and the flute soundhole generates an extra plus in room-filling projection.
