Alegra, our mid-range nylon string guitar, ideally suited for modern playing styles, was equipped with Fan Frets on request of a customer. Laurel, this incredibly percussive and dynamic wood with stunning beauty, was used for back and sides of this custom-made instrument.
Alegra is a modern nylon string guitar that, due to its construction, bracing and choice of woods, produces a sound that differs significantly from the typical tone of a classical guitar. The neck, too, with its flat design and reduced width, is oriented towards the requirements of modern playing styles. The string action is deliberately kept low. The cutaway is standard on this model.
Multiscale or Fan Frets give each string its optimal length. The result is an open sound with very precise intonation.
The frets of our multiscale instruments are fanned out in both directions starting at 8th fret which is positioned horizontally as usual. This allows the fretting hand to reach all positions easily. It is no longer forced to move parallel to the frets, but can perform a natural semicircular motion.
Laurel impresses with a very beautiful, even grain. It varies from light to dark brown and is very similar to Rosewood not only in colour, but also in its physical characteristics and sound. However, it builds up a little more pressure in the low-mid range and shines with a higher dynamic.
The interaction between construction form, fanfret design and wood selection results in a very defined and high-resolution tone that can be generated effortlessly over the entire fingerboard.
