Wood and Features
This baritone ukulele is made of solid Indian Walnut with Spruce top, Spanish Cedar neck and Maple bindings. The ornate rosette is made of Maple, Indian Walnut and Ebony. Omitting Rosewood makes Sarastro "travel safe". Models made of purely local woods are also available upon request.
Handling/Playability
With a scale length of 540 mm, Sarastro is considerably larger than nylon-strung Papageno. You have something in your hand on this one, which is actually essential to make the steel strings sound. The purpose-made V-bracing gives the top the necessary stability and at the same time optimal resonating qualities. The quick response and dynamic sound development result in a wide range of applications. It is particularly suitable for strumming and blues picking.
Sound
By optimising body shape and internal construction, we transformed the short plop into a powerful, balanced euphony with impressive sustain. The tone sounds defined and rich, Indian Walnut in combination with Spruce supports the warm, earthy tone. Its proximity to the tenor guitar opens up new musical worlds. Sarastro is very fond of the blues, but can be used flexibly in a wide variety of musical styles.
